HISTORY

The business was owned by James Elliot at 3 March Street Peebles as a Joiner and Undertaker. Peter Grandison, son of Leonard Grandison who had an old established plasterwork business on Innerleithen Road, Peebles, bought the business from James Elliot in 1923. Peter died in October 1964, his son Leonard Grandison, who was cornet at the Beltane festival in 1938, joined the firm pre second world war and carried on the firm till he retired in 1989 and died in 2006, James Grandison, Leonard’s son left school and started as an apprentice joiner in 1966, he closed the joiners side of the business to concentrate on the funeral directing side, till he retired in 2017 and now acts as a consultant for the firm. Peter Grandison continues as the fourth generation to assist the residents of Peebles and surrounding district when they have a bereavement and will be in control when P. Grandison reaches its 100th anniversary.
